FAQ's
Downstairs is where you would be if you want food or casual drinks. Its a more casual eating/drinking area with comfy seating. Once food service finishes at 9pm, it is where you would be if you were looking for 'chatty drinks'. Think normal cocktail bar with a bit of an upbeat buzz. Once food service finishes at 9pm we dim the lights down low and turn the music up a notch (we also patch in to the DJ upstairs) so there is a vibe going on but not as loud as the party bar upstairs.
Downstairs is also where you need to be if you havent been able to book upstairs. this is where you get priority if a table becomes available upstairs.
Upstairs is full on party mode. Its loud, its fun and its dancing. This is where the DJ is, our bar tenders spin trays, juggle bottles and our servers keep you topped up with drinks all night long.
When you make a booking, be sure to state whether you want to go upstairs after food as it is not assumed.
When people book for the upstairs party bar, we dont always know if they intend to stay all night until midnight or whether they plan to have a couple then move on elsewhere. In most cases, some of the bookings that came in at 7pm will have moved on by 9pm so at that point, if you are in our downstairs bar and want to go upstairs, we can move you up.
If you contact us to make a booking and we are already at capacity in the diary, we will offer a drinking table downstairs with a priority paddle which tells us that as soon as space becomes available upstairs, we can move you upstairs. In most cases, people with priority paddles do get upstairs.
Of course! During the week our downstairs area is both a restaurant and bar so you can choose to have something to eat or just drinks if you prefer.
At weekends, our upstairs bar is open, which is just drinking only. The upstairs bar is open in the day time too so if you are looking for somewhere to day drink - this is the place!
Yes please! We ask for at least 24 hours notice of any afternoon tea bookings so that we can include your booking in our daily baking rota. Pinwheels, parmesan cups etc are all baked at an ungodly early hour in the morning so we need to know at the very latest, the day before, so we can make sure everything is ready for you 🙂
We do indeed, we are the best place to celebrate your special occasion after all! With group bookings for a regular Friday or Saturday night we would only really go up to a maximum of 15/16 as larger bookings would be better suited to a private hire party.
However, if you dont ask, you dont get! - so definitely ping us a message or give us a call and we will always try and get you in!
Ah, very sorry but as the sale of alcohol is the primary business in the upstairs party bar, licensing laws do not permit us to allow under 18's in the upstairs bar unless it is part of a private hire.
Our downstairs area allows under 18's so if you are coming as part of a group, please be aware that under 18's will not be allowed upstairs for the evening.
Tipsy teapot is all about relaxing and having fun. It is very different to a regular pub style venue. As part of that we wanted to create a holiday feel where you never had to leave your group of friends in order to get a drink.
It also makes it a safer environment in that the only people walking about with drinks are our servers who spend the entire night going from table to table getting your orders and delivering your drinks.
Our bar staff are not able to take orders at the bar as they are not able to take payment so the fastest way to get a drink is speak to the server when they come to you.
With larger groups, we've found that it is faster to make your orders as 'rounds' so that they all go through at the same time. Don't worry though, you can all still pay separately when the drinks have been delivered and the server has the bill 🙂
In most cases yes, however since our tables are set for usual group sizes of 2's,3's up to 6's and 8's if you have booked a group of 12 or more, we cannot guarantee that there is enough space (or indeed enough chairs) for a chair for everyone.
We will always aim to move chairs around so that groups get a chair each however if you believe that all your group will need a chair for the entire evening we would probably advise that it be best to book for downstairs as upstairs is primarily for dancing 🙂
During the week things are very casual however at the weekend, if you are coming for a night out to have fun or celebrate a special occasion we absolutely encourage dressing up! Ladies - we understand the prettier the shoes, the more they hurt - so we always have plenty of plasters handy for anyone that needs them.
We also know that dancing in gorgeous shoes is nigh on impossible - which is one of the reasons why we have table service and a no drinks on the dance floor policy to protect your bare feet 🙂
Fun!
Quite simply, its like going on holiday and dancing away to all those classic party tunes you know all the words to. We are not a nightclub or a pub - its somewhere in between.
Everyone has a table - although with larger groups this might be a zone or a group of tables. We try to allocate chairs for everyone however, depending on the size of the booking, this is not always possible - but dont worry you'll be up dancing most of the time anyway!
Not at all! The party bar is free to come in to, it is best to have booked for a weekend though.
If you are a large group we do usually ask for a £5 reservation per head but this is returned to all members of the group who arrive. If you have booked for a certain number of people and not all of them are going to come, please let us know 24 hours beforehand and we will be happy to return the reservation fees to you.
Our upstairs venue has a limited capacity for fire regulations. If we have booked you a space, this usually means that someone else has not been able to get in so if you know you need less spaces than you have booked for, please let us know and we can release those spaces to other people.
We love celebrations!! Celebrating is what we are all about so to make life easier for you, we provide a celebratory balloon on the table anyway (saves you dragging it all though town and respects other guests at the same time). There isnt anywhere to stick banners up though and if you do bring a balloon, we ask that they are not the ones with confetti in them and that you dont bring table confetti either.
cakes are fine to eat if you are already booked in downstairs but we dont have facilities to eat upstairs.
For baby showers, please contact us as we have a decoration/photoshoot package you might like as a keepsake of the occasion.
